Hi everyone! Welcome to Tea Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a great start!
While I am a lover of all things Coffee, I find nothing more relaxing than a nice cup of tea — well except for a beach, of course. The aroma, taste, and warmth of tea makes me slow-down in life and reflect on things; therefore, on Tea Tuesday I want to reflect on a few of my favorites and then my biggest blessing of the week.
Featured Tea – S’mores Chai
When I first told Andy about my idea of Tea Tuesday, his eyes got really big and he responded with “Uh oh, does that mean we are going to have a billion types of teas floating around the house?” — Needless to say, he knows me well 🙂 — Featuring a new tea each week might not be realistic; however, I will feature some of my current favorites here and there.
This fall I have been obsessed with David’s Tea- S’mores Chai. When I first went to the store and smelt it, I felt like I was at bath and body works smelling a candle, which threw me off a bit. I decided to give it a go anyways and it did not disappoint! It is one of my go-tos this fall, when I hit an afternoon slump at work! Since it is seasonal they frequently will have some prepared at the store to try for free samples! Let me know if you try it and what you think.
Recent Reads – The Hate You Give
In conjunction with a nice cup of tea, comes a great read. I usually stick with Murder Mystery, but I had heard some great reviews about The Hate U Give and decided during our honeymoon to branch out and give it a try. I honestly couldn’t put it down! It is so relevant to our current time and such an eye opener to various perspectives that many of us don’t stop to consider frequently.
If you are looking for a good book to challenge your thought process and perspectives- I highly recommend you pick it up to read!
Weekly Lunch Prep – Mexican Quinoa Salad and Chili
This week for lunch I prepped a Mexican Quinoa Salad, which I based off this recipe from Green Healthy Cooking!
We received an instant pot as a wedding gift and I used that to cook my Quinoa (It is a kitchen game changer). Then I went into my favorite activity of prepping veggies. For some odd reason I find it so soothing.
In the end, the salad turned out great and I am pairing it with my dad’s homemade Chili for this week’s lunches!
Weekly Workout Schedule
This week I have already attended my Cardio Kickboxing class. There is no better stress relief on a Monday after work then throwing a few punches at the bag! I also plan to attend a Circuit Training class on Wednesday and Saturday. This class combines boxing, TRX, body weight, battle ropes and more and keeps me engaged each week (Hoping I can also convince Andy to come along with me! –Fingers crossed). Finally, I plan to slow it down with some Ying Yang Yoga at a hot yoga studio, which my body definitely needs after Monday’s class!
My goal for the rest of the year is to attend one Ying Yang class a week. To be honest, I prefer Slow Flow; however, with how fast paced life can be,Ying Yang forces you to slow down and reflect and that is what my body and mind needs right now!
Finally, the blessing of the week! This past weekend, I had the opportunity to go home and see my best friend Whitney and her adorable son. Whitney and I have been best friends since we were five years old and I have loved watching her grow into an amazing woman, wife, and mother.
Since we have been friends for so long, I truly look at Whitney as my sister and in turn her son as my own nephew. I am always so excited when I get to spend time with them and they were kind enough to let me tag along on their trick-or-treating adventure.
He dressed up as the train and while I am a bit bias, he is the cutest train I have ever seen as he continuously said ‘Chugga Chugga’. It was such a great day and ended with him asking me to read his bedtime story to him. Que my heart melting.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my first official post and Tea Tuesday! I hope you tune in next week as I have some fun weekend plans and I can’t wait to share the details! 🙂
